The Boy's Brigade is a uniformed organisation attached to the congregation
where the boys take part in a wide range of physical and educational
activities. The object is the advancement of Christ's kingdom among
boys and the promotion of habits of obedience, reverence, self-respect
and all that tends towards Christian manliness. The 4th Ballymena
Boys Brigade Company have as their motto: sure and steadfast. This
company was formed in 1936 and the current captain is James Hamill.
There are three sections in the company: the Anchor Boys, the Junior
Section and the Company Section.
The Anchor Boys meets on Thursdays from 6:30pm- 7:30pm. They can come
along to Ancor Boys as soon as they start P1 at school and they move on
to the Junior Section when they move into P5.
The Junior Section meets on Thursdays from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. They move
on to the Company section when they go to secondary school.
The Company section meets on Fridays from 7:30pm-10:30pm and membership
ceases when they leave school.
The company has badge awards schemes. These start in the Anchor Boys
and continue through the Junior Section to the Company Section.The
second highest award is the Presidents badge and the highest is the
Queens badge. There are many different activities in each section
such as P.E., drill, expedition, football, volleyball and even summer
weekends. The most important part of our company is the Bible Class
where the boys are taught about the Lord Jesus Christ and the claim
He has on their lives. |
