CHOIR - Calling all SINGERS new and not so new of ALL AGES!! Choir practices are under way for harvest but we could use more singers. My heart is for voices of all kinds in powerful unity and praise. When you are involved in church life it is hard to get along to Friday night practices so there are two extra practices for you to consider coming to and be involved. Sunday 4th October, 8.00pm - 9.30pm & Saturday 10th October 9.00am - 10.30am - there will be tea/coffee!!! Please consider joining us - especially you blokes! You don't need to read music! Younger and older are NEEDED!!
Christian Foundation Course – (Sundays at 3 pm starting on 4 October). This 6 week course is for those who are wishing to become full members of the church on profession of faith at the November Communion. It is also a good course for those who wish to refresh their knowledge of Christian basics. There is also a Christian Foundation Course for Seniors which will be a 3 week course (Thursdays at 11 – 12 noon starting on 8 October). Please sign up on the information desk!
Discipleship Essentials will restart on 5th October at 7.30 pm (Youth Hall).
Wednesday morning Bible Study will restart on 7th October at 10.30 am.
Flowers/Fruit/Vegetables/Greenery can be left at the church 9.00-9.30 am on Saturday 10th October for harvest. (Shortage of greenery last year). Anyone interested in working with flowers and would like to get involved at Harvest, please contact Ruth. Volunteers are needed to pack fruit and flowers and distribute them on Monday 12th October from 9.30am onwards. More help would be greatly appreciated.
United Appeal -Our Harvest Celebration will be on Sunday 11th October . Along with your Harvest Contact magazine you will receive a United Appeal envelope and United Appeal Briefing. Our 2009 congregational target is £28,678.71 and the Easter collection raised £9930.20, leaving the balance target still outstanding as £18748.51 or £29.00 for each of our families, with any shortfall after Harvest made up from General Funds. Please read the Briefing which outlines how PCI intends to spend the £3.5m+ it will raise from this year's United Appeal and give as generously as you can to ensure that other areas of our work here in High Kirk are not adversely affected by having to make up a significant shortfall in our target.
Colin & SunHwa Jenkins (SCFS) - Christmas presents to seamen in Cork. If you would like to help by providing wrapped gifts, a box giving more details and a list of suitable items (compact items please) will be in the vestibule during September.
Learning Support (Extra Tuition Classes) – We plan to confine our focus this year to supporting children who are struggling to keep up with school work in primary school. We will continue to provide help with English as a second language for children and their parents. If you are willing to support and encourage these children, please consider helping out on Thursday evenings 6.30 -7.30 pm. We would also greatly value input from members of the congregation who have experience in TEFL with adults. Call at the information desk for details.
Opportunities to play! Do you like Jellybabies or Jellytots? Mops really need more help – please come and help – you will have great fun. Contact Tricia Patterson or Nikki Gillan for more details.
