Discipleship EssentialsA 2 year programme with teaching and discussion that will help you grow in the core elements of being a disciple of Jesus
Following Jesus Sermon Series
We often use the word disciple to refer to people who followed Jesus. It is a bible word. In the gospels Jesus’ followers were called his disciples. This series is about what it means to follow Jesus today. In studying this issue, we look at some passages from the Gospel of Mark. Part of the reason for using Mark as our template is that we believe that one of Mark’s main reasons for writing his gospel was to present Jesus’ call to discipleship. He wanted as clearly as possible to show through what Jesus taught what it means to follow Jesus as Lord. Above all we want to get a sense of what it means for us to follow Jesus today at ground level in our homes, in our work places and walking these streets. Will people see a difference in us? Will they be inclined to ask themselves what makes these people different in the way they think and live? Are we distinctively different from the world? What does it mean to be called by God? May this series challenge us to love, learn, serve and reach in Jesus name and for His glory. The notes and study questions for this series have been produced to go alongside the Autumn 2011 preaching series. Click here to listen to the sermon series online. These notes should ideally be used to accompany the series however they stand alone as well. The study notes are available for download by clicking the relevant pdf.
