AUTUMN LEAVES

As the leaves don their autumn colours and
flutter down from the trees, their work is not
finished. Where they fall they will still have work to do.
They are no longer on the branches but as this season
                ends for them, another begins.

So in life, God continues to use His people. There is
no retirement and no one is made redundant. Those
autumn leaves appear to be useless but they will
protect and nourish next spring’s new growth.

Likewise, each new generation of God’s children can
benefit from the previous one. Nothing is wasted in
God’s economy, so may our ‘autumn leaves’ provide
nourishment and protection for those following behind
us. May those fresh young shoots accept and use this
food as they seek to grow into strong, wise, loving and
                compassionate young men and women.

In due course as they mature and share their
knowledge with the next generation, so God’s
                kingdom will grow.

What a responsibility our Creator God gives to each
one of us and what a privilege to be used by Him.
