So as we head into January 2021 we are in lockdown again with all the frustration and disappointments that brings. At such a time there is probably no better part of the Bible to explore than Philippians, which is a letter of encouragement in hard times. Paul himself was writing this letter under house arrest, he was under a literal lockdown and yet this letter exudes encouragement, thanksgiving and above all joy. The word joy or rejoice occurs about 12 times in this short letter.
January can be a hard enough month to get through at the best of times. But let’s allow Paul to encourage us to keep going and growing in Spirit as we face into a New Year as we study this great letter together.
